Rafael Nadal isn’t confident about World Tour Finals after suffering Paris Masters defeat

Rafael Nadal looks set to exit the Paris Masters with a second round exit, but he isn’t confident about the World Tour Finals.

Nadal got through the first two rounds of the tournament with relative ease, but in the third match he was beaten by Frenchman Nicolas Mahut in a close match and then lost a three-setter to world number one John Isner in the fourth round.

“From start to finish of the tournament, I was feeling good. I’m not sure what happened. We played a great match and then had that kind of match in the third set,” Nadal said at the end of the tournament.

“It’s a disappointing end to a great tournament and I’m sad that I was not able to finish it, but I think there were positives as well. I was able to control the match and it was very kind of the way it went.

“I played a great match. I think I played a really great match. In the end of the match I was very happy about how I played but after the match I was a little bit sad because today it was really not possible for me to get the victory.”

Nadal was able to overcome a few nerves before the match and his belief was justified.

“Well, after the match I was very happy because I was able to win the match and in the matches I had against Isner, I was able to hold him to 5-4, 6-3. But I was a little bit nervous,” he said.

Nadal has not won a grand slam for six majors since 2010.

“It means I’m not the greatest player. I’m not the greatest player in the world. I’ve tried to work a lot and I tried to put myself in the top spots.
