Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law, is a "gotcha"

Letters to the Editor: Trump announced, and the media are already failing like it’s 2016

From the first day of Donald Trump’s presidency, the media have been trying to break him into a hundred pieces. They’ve been desperately searching for anything that looks like a scandal — while Trump had nothing to do with it, and it was none of his doing — and have been throwing the word “obstructionist” around like it’s a brand new word.

Here are a few examples:

The Daily Show and Hillary Clinton’s email scandal.

Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. The president said he’d like to be the first person to pay for a wall along the southern border. And Jared Kushner, Hillary Clinton’s adviser, went to the media: “I don’t know what he was thinking,” Kushner told the New York Post’s Page Six.

But Jared is about to be forced to sit on the same committee as Anthony Weiner, the congressman accused of sending lewd text messages. Kushner also admitted that his wife is currently trying to “de-clutter” her phone.

Here’s the thing: Trump never mentioned the Clinton/Kushner/Weiner scandal on the campaign. Not once. And that’s because that was it. The Clinton email scandal was never a big deal in the campaign. That’s because Trump had nothing to do with it. No one knew that he had emailed one or two of Hillary Clinton’s top aides with his personal email account, because they hadn’t even gone through Benghazi’s email system.

If he’d released the emails from Benghazi, it would’ve been an immediate scandal and it would’ve been known in advance.

We’ve seen what happens when a sitting president tries to make enemies. It starts with a newscast.

From the moment of his election, the media’s been screaming: he’s a Republican, he does anything. But he’s never done anything. He’s never done anything controversial. He’s never done anything political. He’s never been controversial. There was no scandal. He had nothing to do with the Clinton emails. And he did release the emails from Benghazi.

Yet the media is going after him in a “gotcha” way.

They’ve been trying to
